Sports Massage Techniques
We use a combination of several types of advanced massage techniques when treating your aching body; this combination is commonly known as Sports Massage (sometimes called deep tissue massage)and includes the following techniques:
  • Effleurage: the foundation stroke of massage treatments
  • Petrissage:  soft-tissues are lifted, rolled, squeezed or pressed to stretch and separate them.
  • Friction: involves the application of force onto a specific area to target scar tissue and fibrous adhesion.
  • Trigger Points: a technique that affects a change in the neuroendocrine system and a resultant improvement in soft tissue state.
  • Muscle energy techniques: movement based techniques activily using muscles from a controlled position in a specific direction.

Our Sports Therapy treatments also include mobilization and manipulation techniques helping to release tension in your joints.

These types of therapies are advanced techniques & should not be confused with therapeutic spa massage. Sports Massage therapy can gently treat the muscle tissue, because it works deeper than regular relaxing massage; its effects are usually deeper and longer lasting.

Sports massage can be used to prevent injury and also to help heal muscular issues. Covering both muscular and skeletal dysfunctions, including neck, lower back, arthritis, frozen shoulder, muscular cramps, whiplash, muscular waste, sciatica problems and many other injuries.

Postural Assessment and Corrective Exercise (PACE) uses cutting-edge information and skills to help correct any imbalances your posture has developed over time.

PACE explores the use of posture and unique movement assessments to determine your static position and functional movement capacity. You will be shown how movement limitations can be effectively managed through the application of highly organized and effective mobilization and corrective exercise strategies via 1 on1 personal training or through custom training plans. The use of sports massage can also be an effective way of treatment for stiffness and tension in your muscles.

This specialist treatment is effective for issues like lower back, neck and shoulder painor if your suffer with pain in the knee, hips or ankles . Being able to identify where and why you are suffering with pain is your key to a successful rehabilitation.

Posture correcting
Kinesiology taping or sports tape as it is sometimes referred as is definitely the buzzword at the moment in the field of Sports Medicine. All top professional teams in every sector of sport throughout the UK and the world are having this new phenomenal tape applied to them, and now you can too;  we  employ these techniques that can do remarkable things to improve the performance of your training  and in the clinical aspect of injury.

What can sports taping do for you?

REDUCE PAIN & AID PERFORMANCE. Sports Tape is thought to activate stretch receptors in the soft tissue which feedback to the brain. This can help to aid function and importantly reduce pain.

DYNAMIC SUPPORT. The 150-180% stretch of the tape provides sufficient support to recovering joints and tendons without being restrictive. Allowing you to continue playing and actively rehab.

PREVENTION & PROTECTION. Proven to last in the harshest of environments, the breathable fabric allows protection against rubbing and friction. Stays in place when sweating or swimming thanks to extra sticky adhesion.

Sports Therapy was originally developed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. Sports Therapy is now widely used by everybody who suffers with chronic pain, injury or range-of-movement issues.

Sports Therapy combines sports massage with personal training to help you gain that complete treatment, it is especially useful when you have an injury or had recent surgery. Personal Training helps you strengthen your weak areas while the sports massage can work deep to help relieve tension in the muscles. Sports therapy also incorporates manipulation of joints, analysis of posture and sports taping to give a complete muscular treatment.
